ARIS Version 7.1

I created a function object activity within a special process type. With this process type the appearence of an actifity is represented with a specific symbol.
When I copy this function object now to a model generated with an other process type e.g. the "Entire Method" this activity has a different representation.
So if I change the appearance with format/representation/symbol in the model everything seems as I want, but if you look in the explorer tree you will see that the activity did not change its representation its assigned default appearence from before is still valid. Same when you copy the activity in a new model.
Now my question:
What can I do that this appearence change according to my formatation so that in other models the new appearence is taken also for this activity.

Hope sombody can help me to understand how an object knows its default repraesentation.

Hello Adalbert,

The following is based on ARIS 7.2, but I believe should apply to 7.1 as well.

It is important to note the distinction between an occurrence of an object in a model and its object definition.

The symbol in a model may depend on the method filter, so if it only allows a certain symbol in a certain model type, it may show with that symbol there, although you made an occurrence copy from a different model where the object had a different representation.

The default symbol of an object is a property of the object definition. You reach that via the object properties dialogue (e.g. <Alt>+<Enter>), when you select the "occurrences" chapter on the left. Below the list of occurrences you find the "standard symbol" and you can change it there. However, this is only the default, which is shown in the explorer tree. If the filter you use does not allow that symbol for the model type you want to place the object in, an allowed symbol from the filter will be chosen.
