I'd like to create a new macro based on a report (replace object type).
While being asked for the type numbers (old --> new) doing the report i'd like this step working automatically with the macro.
I think i only need to copy the code (replace object type) to a new script and replace that code interrogating the type numbers by fixed code (#65578 --> #42).
My problem's that i don't know which code to replace and how to implement it exactly.
Deeply grateful for any hints and tips.
Thank you.
Hello Christopher,
one hint I can give you is that the type numbers (TypeNum) are not stable across Servers for user-defined symbols. I guess that after replacing the objects you also have to map the symbols of the occurrences to some new symbols. However the GUIDs for the symbols are stable as you transfer them between servers. So derive the local TypeNum for a symbol from the GUID and store it in a global variable. The same applies to user-defined attribute types. If you don't observe this, you may experience surprises moving from your test system to the production system.
