I have ARIS 9.7 installed on Windows Server 2008 R2. My goal is to use SSL conncetivity on my system, when I connect to the server locally using https://servername, I can download client, when I select ssl(443) from details and select next I get the error "Unable to connect to ARIS Server". I have added to certificates to keystore, through java console i do not see any errors. The certs are in the correct store per java console pointing to the location java is being called from. Also the server.xml file under abs_m has been modified to point to the keystore. Any help with this issue would be great

Dear Clark,

I am not an expert on SSL for ARIS. But could it be that the server name you have entered when generating the keystore is not 100% identical with the one which the client gets through the download?

As ARIS uses FQDN by default, your client gets not the pure server name, like https://MyServer, but the fully qualified domain name: http://MyServer.MyDomain.

I would check the log file of the client to see which server it tried to reach. Go to folder %UserProfile%\ARIS90\log.

Cheers

Rune,

Thank you for your comment, I checked the path you suggested those logs have not been updated within the last week. While checking other logs they refer to the correct fqdn of my server. I did not see any errors regarding certificates in any log files through out ARIS. I have run into a wall here. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Last idea before I would suggest you to open a support ticket:

Have you tried downloading the ARIS client on that computer where you have installed ARIS Design/Connect Server?

If that works, it would indicate that the connection between the two machines is the problem.

I have tried connecting locally (from server where aris is installed) as well as remotely. I have a ticket open with your support staff. I am very frustrated with the level of support I receive on this product.

Hi,

We have encountered this very problem! Each network setup is different, but I think t comes down to  translation and how the SSL certificate has been generated.

Our SAG consultant suggested that because our network setting were not correctly translating names versus IP addresses, and the certificate was not generated using a FQDN ( Fully Qualified Domain Name ), that there would be a mismatch.

Dear Kevin,

Please re-post or replace your auto-translated German text with the original text, I suppose it was English. The translation is insufficient to understand your actual issue.
