Hi We have several ARIS 7.2 databases and I would like to migrate them to our ARIS cloud instance.

I have tried backing them up (.adb files) which in importing comes back with and invalid file.

I have tried exporting them as XML but when Importing them I get  "You need an extended license to import this file type." error message.

How do I proceed?

Thanks

Craig

Hi Craig

What does this in detail mean:

"which in importing comes back with and invalid file"? Did you enter the system user password of the database in ARIS 7?

To check if the file is invalid:

Is it possible to restore the backup again in ARIS 7 (with another name)?

Best regards

Cristoph.

Hi Christoph,

The backup from ARIS 7.2 produces a *.adb file, i believe that ARIS 9.8 (Cloud) will work with a *.adf file produced by ARIS Express.
I have tried getting the information from ARIS 7.2 to ARIS express but again there doesn't appear to be a path to do this.

I also tried exporting from ARIS 7.2 as an XML file however when I try importing in ARIS9.8 cloud this fails with a error that reports I need an extended license, and again I can't find any information on this, I am waiting for empower to grant me support (able to raise ticket) access, however the signing authority in my organization is on vacation. So I am a little stuck right now.

Thanks again for any suggestions.
Craig

Sorry.

Now I'm a bit confused

Do you want to import your ARIS 7 database in ARIS Cloud?

ARIS Cloud has nothing tro do with ARIS Cloud.

It's possible to import an adb file in ARIS Cloud. An adb file is database backup of ARIS.

Maybe you could send your backup to inbox@ariscloud.com and then we can test if it can be imported in ARIS Cloud.

regards

Christoph

Ok figured it out.

From the gear drop down select databases from there you can import *.adb backup files generated by ARIS 7.2 backups.

Thanks
