Could somebody please explain the logic applied by ARIS when allocating permissions on new groups (folders).

I have ARIS Business Architect 7.2, I have rwdv permissions on all groups, and when I create a new folder I only get rwd permissions, which results in me not being able to version any models in that group. I thought that the new group is supposed to inherit the permissions from the parent group to which the creating user is assigned? - see image below...

Is this a defect or is there some logic that is applied when new groups are created?

Thanks,

Damian

Hi Damian,

this isn't a defect. I had same problem in the past. I solve this problem now by my script, which refresh user permissons. I think you can run such script in report scheduler or in macro (event is fired when a new group is created).

Hi Vladimir,

You are correct, this isn't a defect. ARIS have done this deliberately: "From ARIS 7.1.0.501900 (ARIS 7.1 SR 2010_08) a user gets a normal user only RWD privileges in self created groups. This functionality was changed intentionally to avoid accidental versioning."

Any chance sharing your script?

Regareds,

Damian

Hi Vladmir -

Reliase this is an old post, but are you able to share your script - it would come in most useful and solve a problem I have around release management.

Many thanks
