I have added a document to the Process Live repository and then paste that URL into one of the attributes on an object.

For later retrieval, I would expect that I could click the attribute URL or, worst case, copy-and-paste the URL into a new browser tab but unfortunately neither approach works.

How can I reference documents sitting in the Process Live repository?

Currently a bit of handiwork is necessary to do this. But generally you are on the right track.

You need to open the properties page of the document and copy the link which is shown within the page (not the one in the location bar of the browser). You can then paste this link into the "Link 1" attribute of the object with which you want to associate the document. When you click on the link in the attributes panel the document should be opened.

In case you want to see the link directly in a model you can create an attribute placement for the "Link 1" attribute at the object. Then you should also maintain the "Title 1" attribute in order to get a friendly name for the link instead of the URL. You can then open the linke by double-clicking on the placed attribute.

The above describes the current situation. For the future some improvements are planned, so you should not get used to the procedure described above. Eventually ARIS document storage attributes will become available and for those it is planned to show a document chooser dialog from which you can pick the desired document directly without having to copy and paste the URL. So please watch out for updates and switch to these attributes when they become available.

Hi Ralf.  What you've described is exactly the steps that I'd done originally.  In particular, I'm using the URL from the document properties page not the location bar.  Despite that, I have a few problems:

(a) neither the attribute Link1 URL or the attribute placement on the model is clickable .  Therefore I need to copy-and-paste the URL into a separate browser window

(b) after copying-and-pasting, it tries to connect to the process live instance, but it never succeeds so nothing is displayed.

Hm, in my case the link in the attributes panel is shown in blue and can be opened with one mouse click. For the placed attribute to activate the link a double-click is necessary.

Here is a screenshot to make it clearer how it looks in my case:

Regarding the problem with the connection to Process Live: If there is a port contained in the URL, try to delete that and see if it works then.

You could also use some arbitrary URL in order to test if the linking mechanism works for you at all, before trying to insert a URL to a document in Process Live.

Hi Ralf,

The port was indeed causing part of the problem.  After removing it from the URL, I'm able to retrieve the document from the repository.

I'm still having problems with activating the link though.  If the model is in EDIT mode, then yes I can clink on the link or double-click on the placed attribute and retrieve the document.  However, if the model is in BROWSE mode, the URL is greyed out and I can no longer click on it.  Instead, I have to copy-and-paste to a new window.

As far as I know the link will be made clickable in browse mode in the future. Not yet with the upcoming update, though.
