Defining Permissable Connections In A MethodFilter For a Matrix Model

Regarding the editing of a customized MethodFilter, what would be the reason why I can't select permissable connection types for a matrix model? I have selected the permissable symbol types allowed in the matrix model, yet there are no connections shown between the symbols for me to choose.

Further Infomation. I have written a script to create connections in the matrix and I get a NullPointerException even in the EntireMethod. The odd thing is that I can manually go to the matrix model and create cxns with no issues. What am I missing?
