There has been a lot of development and discussions going around about the social computing and the BPM area. As social media is at its best in the market these days, BPM vendors giving a big thought to use the same. There are lots of examples to follow the developments like ARIS Align, SAP Gravity, Oracle BPM 11g, Pega, Lombardi and list continues.
Social computing is among the main attraction in Oracle BPM 11g launch. ARIS Align is also very impressive thought.
With this post I want to discuss the practicality of social media features in BPM and obviously business benefits out of that. To start with here is my list of social media features that is relevant for BPM:
- Tasks collaboration for Process discovery and definition: Customized workspaces for teams/groups.
- Process Transparency: Business visibility
- Event driven real time alerts and updates: BAM, mashups and notification alerts.
The features of wikis, blogs and to share with social groups sound very interesting to me. I was discussing the benefits of collaborative BPM in one of the discussion “BPM & Google Wave” and found some interesting use cases.
Its kind of 'Feel Good Factor' feeling after getting to know that 'SOCIAL COLLABORATION' features is also made available by ARIS in the form of 'ARIS CONNECT'.
The capabilities of 'ARIS CONNECT' has been explained by Dr. Domnik in his post: http://www.ariscommunity.com/users/vanderhaeghen/2013-06-07-top-features-aris-9-social-collaboration-process-improvement-and-better-process-governance.
Hey Praveen,
Thanks for sharing very useful information Social Collaboration with Social BPM and ARIS Connect.
There has been a radical change in the way the Enterprise Information Technology is perceived by the enterprise and the business in recent times. Gone are the days where Business Process Management was just considered for workflows. With the growth of Mobile technology and Social Media, the expectation from the business or the enterprise has made a big leap. The nature of Social Media challenges industries to facilitate a process that can interact with individuals virtually, and assist them with their needs and demands.
This article on “SocialBPM”, cites a few problem statements, an approach to address those scenarios, an example depicting how Social Media and BPM can work hand-in-hand for the benefit of customers/vendors, and most importantly the business benefits and RoI (Return on Investment) of Social BPM. This article also provides a snapshot of the current trends among the different BPM products and companies that help to bridge the gap between the customers and the enterprise in a social context.
