Hi Folks,
I am new to this Community and wanted to ask you a couple of questions about Aris.
1) What is the best way to design a business process outside of Aris Publisher? My goal would be to prepare a draft outside of ARIS (ARIS express?? Visio??) and later import it into ARIS Publisher.
How did you handle this issue? Can you please provide me with a detailed description of the steps to follow?
2) Why Control Activities are not represented in EPC diagrams in Aris Express? How did you handle this problem?
Thank you very much for your help.
Cheers,
Luca
Dear Luca,
ARIS Publisher requires an ARIS database/repository which is being published/exported to let user browse the database content (groups, models, objects).
So in order to change a model you have consumed in Publisher, you need to get access via ARIS Designer/Architect to the corresponding source database.
ARIS Designer/Architect are commercial ARIS products, offering a much richer set of model types and object types than ARIS Express (freeware). ARIS Express has a limited set of model types and within each model type a limited set of object types.
Models in ARIS Express are basically stored as single files (.ADF) which can be imported into commercial ARIS products, e.g. ARIS Architect.
An alternative to buying commercial ARIS products and install them on premise, you could check out a free trial ARIS Cloud. It offers the model type EPC including control activities and other GRC related objects types: http://www.ariscommunity.com/ariscloud/benefits-ariscloud-compared-aris-express
Does this help?
Cheers
