Hi ,

I am working prcess modesl created as EPCs.

I want to know is there any way to automatically number process steps in EPC?

This is important for us when we are communicating the process models and making reference to process steps.

I undestood that this may be possible thorough Macros, but I do not have any knowledge on creating such macros.

Can Some one help me on this please.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

this is also important for us, but I don't have any solution.

Can someone share a macro?

Hi.

This is important (maybe) for lot's of people and it is quite strange that there seems not to be anything in Aris standard version for those, like me, who do not have (and do not aspire to have) programming skills.

Anyway I solved a simular problem in terms of process automatic numbering (not, as you asked, in terms of single process steps numbering).

There is a standard report called "Hierarchy level numbering" (I have the italian version of Aris, so I may have not correctly translated in English but you should be able to spot it in the "Default" group - Module Script) that I use to number automatically all my processes. The only thing is that this report works only on models who have a yierarchy (organization charts, function trees) and not in EPCs.

If a volunteer would share his/her ability to modify this report in order to allow it to work even on EPCs, that would really be appreciated....

Hi,

Thanks for the reposnses.

I could see some logic is built on giving numbers to process steps and events in "Process generator" report ,but not sure how to extend it  and assign to proces step.

For some one good at coding this may serve as start point...

Looking for some experts help!

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

As this is a major issue for us, I worked on a solution and described it in detail here:

http://www.ariscommunity.com/users/nique/2012-07-12-how-number-objects-semi-automatic

It is not an automatic script, because the numbering will never be as a user will number it. The script does never have an overview of a model. If you have a fork, should the script go left or right? The user understands the sense and decide once for the left, and once for the right.

It makes sense to me only, if you do a mass load of process-data. But then you can number in the same time of the import.

Dominik

Hi all,

I just want to remind you that It is not possible to number a sequence of fonctions, because functions should be shared and used in other models of your database.

so the script must number the objects occurrence for each model, and not the object definition.

I've got a customer who is using this kind of script, launched on each CPE and which number the  occurrence of functions in a message box, but i do not recommand this method. Method sort x,y is a good alternative.

regards
