Hi community,

Do you know how to find more than 1000 objects in a "standar find"???

ARIS can find just 1000 objects.. I suppose that maybe the answer is modifying a parameter in a file in the instalation folders... I have ARIS 7.1 Architec.

What do you think?

Regards!

Hi Mr. Rodriguez,   Try setting this property in your user.cfg file: <userdata type="textsearch:MaximumResults" value="15000"/>   Graham

Hi both,

the idea is great and quite useful, however this amendment does not work for me with ARIS7.2. I changed user.cfg file as it was proposed above and restarted the ARIS services, cleaning meanwhile the logs and server cache. Unfortunately the search option continues to extract just 1000 results. Do you have any other ideas?

Thanks and KR,

TY

All, I cannot tell you how long our company has been frustrated by this limit. Pedro, thank you for having the good sense to ask the forum! I cannot believe I didn't do it years ago! :)

SoftwareAG, please change this default setting (or at least allow it to be changed directly in the find window). When a user needs to search for 2500 objects and cannot, they simply assume that it is beyond the capability of the product (they don't search the manual for a configuration setting to change!) and this harms the perception of your product more than you may realise.

Trifon, it sounds like you may be modifying this file on the server. It should work if you change the file on your local user folder and then restart the client.

Hi Baglan,

To fix this problem:

  1. First, ensure ARIS is closed.
  2. Open up Windows explorer and type in the following address:

    %USERPROFILE%

Hit enter to go to your profile folder. Then open the folder named ARIS71 (depending on your version of ARIS, the folder may be "ARIS72", etc...)
  3. There is a file in this folder named user.cfg. Open it in a text editor, like Notepad.
  4. Find the line that Graham referred to:

    <userdata type="textsearch:MaximumResults" value="1000"/>
  5. Replace the number 1000 with the new limit you would like, eg 15000

it will now look like this:

    <userdata type="textsearch:MaximumResults" value="15000"/>
  6. Save the file and close it.
  7. Reopen ARIS.

I hope that this helps.

The above fixed the problem in ARIS 7.2, but what do we do in ARIS 9.7? I cannot find a user.cfg file.

There is nearly the same possibility in 9.7 - only that the file is named ARIS.cfg

Please note that this will not work in 9.8...

Why does it not work under ARIS 9.8?

How is the procedure in the recent version? Is it a configuration item to be set on the ARIS Server?

Well, you would have to ask SAG about that...   I only got this answer concerning 9.7...

Yes extension of search limit is possible in ARIS 9.8 as well.

Please follow the below procedure to do so:

Procedure:

  1. Close the Architect / Designer
  2. Edit the ARIS.cfg file of the connectio. e.g. here: C:\Users\<your user>\ARIS90\<your ARIS server>\ARIS.cfg
  3. Search for <userdata type="textsearch:MaximumResults"
  4. Replace it by <userdata type="textsearch:MaximumResults" value="<number of hits>" overrule="yes"/> e.g. for 2000: <userdata type="textsearch:MaximumResults" value="2000" overrule="yes"/>
