Hi there,

I would like to install Aris-Express 2.2 on an Terminalserver.

Also the installed program should be opened by published application under citrix.

Is this possible or do I have to use the professional version of Aris ?

THX for your help

Jens

Hi Jens,

actually, the ARIS Express license is bound to one single user. Which means, every single user using Express needs to have his/her own ARIS community account.

Generally, you can install Express on a terminal server, but if different users want to start it by using the same terminal client login, that would lead to "sharing an installation".

So it is possible, yes, but if you want to share one installation instead having multiple Express installations for every terminal client user, I recommend using the professional tools of ARIS.

Bye,

Frank

Hi Frank,

thanx for your reply. I've installed the program on a network share und configured

the java-properties file to change the cache-dir on runtime to the share. It works fine,

but when a user creates a link from one adf-file to anotherone, arisexpress tries to

open a file on the terminalserver stored in the cachedir of the domainadminuser

on the server:

Is there any chance to use aris-express on citrix terminalservers ? Or do we

have to use the pro-version ?

kind regards

jens

Hi Jens,

ups... that smells like a license violation.

Every user (personally) using Express needs to have his/her community account.

That means:

  1. you install Express on terminal server, give other users the terminal server login, where they can model -> licence violation
  2. if you managed to install it one time and make it available for multiple users, still each user needs to fill out the registration wizard. If you give away your commnity account -> license violation.

I recommend to use the professional tools, they can be used in software distribution environments etc...

So if you want to install Express on terminal server, proceed as follows:

  1. all users should set their download location to the same folder, so you do not waste disk space.
  2. Every user downloads express directly or uses the installation executable
  3. Each users registers with his/her own community account...

That's should it be, then.

Bye,

Frank

Hi again,

sorry for that, but Aris-Express could not be installed in one local folder, because the setup

installs the program into the users applicationdata-folder under ..sun...java...and so on.

So the profilefolder of each user growes up to 400 MB.

I tried to edit the properties-file to change users java-cache-dir. So the installer installs all

files after running setup into one share-folder.

Starting the program, requires onetime registration for each user. Thats ok. But trying to

create a link on another ADF-file (like processes or something else) brings up the above

shown errormessage.

Is there any way to setup Aris-Epress to install it with parameters to one local store and also

when it is started via desktop-link, the internetdownload installs any files to the local folder ?

kind regards

Jens

Hallo everybody,

any update on that? Our users are using an "IGEL". Installing ARIS Express to the sun...java.. folder is possible, BUT after a restart of an "IGEL" the cache is cleaned and all users need to re-install ARIS Express after every reboot.

Any idea how to spread ARIS to citrix e.g.?

Regards,

Christian

Hi there,

I'm trying to install ARIS on "Citrix XenApp Server 5.0", not on a regular PC.

Can anyone provide me with the installation steps for such a task? knowing that I installed ARIS business server version 7.2 on a separate machine integrated with an SQL Database version 2008 on other machine. The integration worked successfully and I created ARIS database on the SQL database.

Then I installed the client (ARIS Business Architect 7.2) on a local machine not a CITRIX one, and the connection between the server and the client was successful.

I then published ARIS Business Architect 7.2 for a Citrix thin client, but when I tried to launch ARIS from the Citrix client; the ARIS client did not open.

The current CITRIX version I currently have is Citrix XenApp Server 5.0 & Feature Packs.

Thanks for your help,

Moh
