Dear community,
I have a strange problem with the function "Transaction start" to start SAP transaction out of Aris Business Publisher EPC model.
Some time ago this worked, now it does nothing anymore and I don't know what changed. Perhaps a problem with new Java or SAP GUI version? I don't know where to look and what to do.
SAPJCO3 installed and test okay (please see attached screenshot), Business Publisher Version is 7.2, Java 1.7 and SAP Gui 7.2 Level 15.
Other functions in Business Publisher of right mouse click work (e.g. create report), but "Start transaction" does nothing any more...
Transaction name is maintained in EPC function.
Please advice, I would be very happy if you could help.
Thank you very much,
Sebastian Landenburg
Hi Sebastian,
Can you check "System Events" under Windows event viewer to see if you can find any error message after executed "Start transaction" command. Maybe it's a loading problem for JCO DLL.

Hello Nick,
thanks for your reply. Although I could not find the event viewer at the place inside the preferences that microsoft described (perhaps it is set to invisible by system administration for me?) I could start ist by entering eventvwr.exe. Unfortunately I could not find anything that pointed to such a loading problem. But when starting Java console, I got an error message from JCO "Error while creating/starting the java transaction dialog!".
Here are the details:
"Tue Feb 18 13:14:42 CET 2014 : JCO VERSION: 3.0.10 (2013-08-08)

Any ideas?
Thanks and kind regards,

Hi Nick,
unfortunately this did not help. But I remember that I had problems regarding Java version with another application not long ago.
Do you know if the function perhaps worked with Java 6 and doesn't work any more with version 7?
Thanks and kind regards,
Sebastian
Hi Sebastian,
I believe with Business Publisher 7.2 you need to have installed the ARIS Web Publisher software (WPSetup.exe) on the client machine to facilitate the communication between the EPC content accessed via the browser and the SAP GUI software. Can you confirm whether this is installed?
I'm assuming it is as you state that the 'Run Transaction' operation was working before, but now isn't. Perhaps you could try re-installing this software on a test machine to see whether the problem is resolved. I have seen this happen before, but usually as a result of some change to the client environment - e.g. browser upgrade or activation of a new browser security policy, SAP GUI upgrade, java upgrade, OS upgrade, etc.
Let me know how you get on.
Regards,
Ben
Hello Ben,
thanks for your reply. No, WpSetup.exe is not installed. As far as I can remember, there are two different independent options possible to access SAP transactions. One is Wpsetup.exe and the other one is the SAPJCO3 package that I am using.
I am also thinking of an client conflict because there is more change than at the server side. Your idea is good but to install/use a new client environment is not that easy for me. So I hoped to get a more concrete hint, what to check/try first.
Nevertheless I will keep you informed.
Regards,
Sebastian
