A colleague and I have been unable to successfully download Aris Express 2.3. We both have Lenovo T410s, and are operating Windows 7.
We receive the first error after the application says: "The application can be integrated onto the desktop. Do you want to continue?"
When we select "yes", we receve the error "Unable to create a shortcut for Aris 2.3".
Afterwards, we tried to open up an Aris file and received the following message: "Unable to launch the application".
Can you assist?
Which error? You describe two errors: first, the creation of the short cut, second error: "unable to launch the application".
Via the Java-Console, you can also delete the java-cache, which I would strongly recommend (delete all temporary internet files in the Java panel -> first page -> temporary internet files -> settings) and click onto this download link afterwards.
Could it be that you have a quite restricted access to your system and installation is not allowed?
Frank,
I was refererring to the error of "unable to create shortcut".
I just tried what you suggested and received the same error again (unable to create shortcut).
The Java Console also opened up and says:
Java Web Start 1.6.0_20
Using JRE version 1.6.0_20-b02 Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM
User home directory = C:\Users\is admin
----------------------------------------------------
c: clear console window
f: finalize objects on finalization queue
g: garbage collect
h: display this help message
m: print memory usage
o: trigger logging
p: reload proxy configuration
q: hide console
r: reload policy configuration
s: dump system and deployment properties
t: dump thread list
v: dump thread stack
0-5: set trace level to <n>

With regard to restricted access, others in my firm (w/the same computer/operating system) were able to install successfully. i have double checked my security settings against theirs, and see no difference. I also double checked my JAVA settings & should be fine there. any other ideas?
Thanks,
Shabana
