This query correspond to ARIS Business Architect / Server:
- How can a new connection type be created? Or is it not possible, with only option being renaming existing connection types?
- How can an existing connection type be edited to add new association (ie, [add / edit FROM & TO objects that can use this connection type] OR [add another / remove existing Model type where the connection type can occur] ) ? Is this not possible?
- We need to establish a connection type as "Position" object "PERFORMS" "OU" object -- where Position will represent the org role and OU will represent the Process Role... Any suggestions around how this could be achieved better?
It is not possible to create new connection types in ARIS. You also cannot add connection types to model types where they are not allowed by the ARIS method. You can change the names of existing connection types by creating a new Method Filter or by modifying an existing one. There is an existing connection type that does what it appears you are looking for. There is a "performs" connection type from either Position or Organizational Unit to Role. Make sure you are using the "Entire Method" method filter when you are looking for available connection types or object types. Note that if you are making changes to the ARIS method by using objects, connections, models for other than the intended purpose it can have negative impact on ARIS functionality. It is best to bring in someone with an extensive knowledge of the ARIS method and functionality to assist in method filter changes.
