ARIS Express Status Update

I just returned from our weekly ARIS Express status meeting and I want to give you an update about the current progress. Not even 2 months ago, we released ARIS Express to the public, but there are already 10.000 registered copies. People from all over the world are using ARIS Express and share their models here in ARIS Community. Currently, you can also win an iPod Touch if you share your ARIS Express model with ARIS Community members.

Currently, our engineers focus on bringing the ARIS Express features to our professional products such as ARIS Business Architect. During this process, it might be that we will also slightly change the features inside of ARIS Express so that a transition from ARIS Express to our professional products is as smooth as possible.

So far, we only received few bug reports. There are 1 or 2 open issues, which will require an update of ARIS Express in the coming weeks. We will inform you as soon as this update is available!

Sebastian,

What is the way to report bugs in ARIS Express. I don't see a special group or something not that there is official release.

Two issues that immediately come to mind are:

1. When putting a special symbol for a documents name (save as...) there is no message that it's not allowed, it's just not saved and that's it

2. In every new symbol the Name appears sometimes bold, sometimes not.

For my part, I issued the following issues (evolution or Bug, I leave you to judge).

1 - Links models

2 - Problem with SmartDesign windows

I also noticed the same issues published by Ivo.

I disabled my cleaning software that required me to reinstall AE.

With the official release of ARIS Express the former beta tester group has been renamed to ARIS Express Support Group - You can find the instructions on how to report a bug here.

Hi Pascal,

your first point is not a bug report but a feature request. The second point is also more a feature request, even though one could argue that it should be possible to use ARIS Express in a multi-screen setup.

The problem with software cleaning the user profile on each startup is something we can't fix in ARIS Express, because it happens outside of ARIS Express. However, I will add a FAQ entry for it.

Hi Sebastian,
do you already know when ARIS express new features will be available for ABA/ABD? My customer is indeed very interested in the new symbols amongst other things.
A few weeks ago, Frank Weyand was speaking of the end of this year.

It will be part of the next service release of ARIS Platform. Yesterday, we just release service release ARIS 7.1 2009_04. I don't know at the moment how the next one will be called and I think the release date is also not fixed yet.
