One month ago I visited a training about Aris Business Designer and I´m new in the whole theme concerning Aris.
I would like to use Aris in a few weeks. This time my customer and I are not sure if we should use Aris Business Architect or Business Designer.
Expected we would like to have just three positions working with Aris. If we just would like to model processes an Aris Business Designer must be sufficient, isn´t it?
Further questions:
Do you need a server by implementing Aris Business Designer?
Is it possible to make the installation by yourself?
Is it possible to install the clients by yourself?

Designer can work only with a server. Server installation is very straight forward with native DB and just a bit more complocated when using external DB (Oracle or Sequel).
You need Architect for:
- Administration (Configuration of ARIS methods and conventions, publishing, queries etc)
- Creating ARIS reports, macros and transformations
- Import of adf files
- If you need to work offline
There are other advantages like the ability to easily open different servers and databases and then you have different simulator for designer and architect etc. In the case of three clients probably a good start is 1 Server, 1 ABA , 2 ABD.
