Thanks for the info, Uwe. This is one product that I have always wanted to find out more but was unable to get hold of more info.

Specifically, can u address the following:

1. Understanding SAP data structure has always been a pain, yet it is an important to do so. How can this tool help a company to do so? Can it be used with the standard SAP 4.7 or ECC6.0 solution to get the details of the masterdata, reports and documents. (ie. without the BW).

I am also interested to find out from the members of this community, how they have used and benefited from this product.

thank you

HC Lim

Hi Lim,

with ARIS BI Modeler only structures and reports from a SAP BW 7.0  can be documented. For the SAP 4.7 or ECC 6.0 we have a special redocumentation tool. Is it right Uwe?

Thanks,

Harry

Thanks for the inputs, Harry.

Yes, I would be very interested to know if the redoc can produce detailed masterdata down to the data elements. If yes, what redoc solution is capable of doing that?

thanks.

Yes Harry, it is right. We have a customized solution which enables a redocumentation of your SAP systems.

From this you can automatically create ARIS models to start up your project or compare with your target processes.

Hi Lim,

The SAP Redocumentation service offered by IDS Scheer does not give you an analysis of masterdata (structures).

The reason for this is, that with this service, we rather aim for process related information that will speed up the creation / update of SAP business blueprint than technical datastructures.

This service is often used for Upgrades, Consolidations and setting up a SAP template

The SAP Redocumentation service (not to be confused with BI Redocumentation) does include:

-Transactional usage set off on reference models like the SAP BPR or IDS IPR. This also includes custom transactions and reports not used

-System organizational structures are represented in organizational charts

-SAP documenttype usage per organizational unit is represented in models in ARIS

-Extraction of user exits and BADI's

-Extraction of custom developed objects

-Extraction of  modifications to SAP

-Extraction of IDOC usage

BR,

Rutger
