We're a bit late in upgrading Aris. Reading the 9.6 Aris server installation and administration guide it states "Back up the database in Aris version 7.2" and "Restore the database in Aris version 9.X".
We are currently on 7.1. Has anybody migrated from 7.1 to 9.x without passing 7.2? Is it supported?
regards,
Vincent
Hello Vincent,
I recently learned, that there were no changes in the database schema between 7.1 and 7.2. So you should be fine. With 7.0 it would have been a different story.
However nothing saves you from intensively testing the migration before you go live with 9.7. Do yourself a favour and go for the latest available release. There are a few chores you have to do in the course of the migration from 7.1/7.2, so rehearse them well, before you go about migrating your productive environment.
Regards,
M. Zschuckelt
We are planning to do a proof-of-concept of sorts in order to get a better understanding of the migration effort. Unfortunately we do not get access to v9.7 at the moment since we buy Aris via SAP, otherwise we would have gone for v9.7. v9.6 is the latest version they support.
If there are no meta-data changes 7.1-7.2 migration of repository contents should be straightforward - good to hear M. Zschuckelt!
