- I would like to know who out there has been doing process modeling in the product development space? It seems that the majority of process modeling teams that we've had discussions with are modeling in more finite areas such as logistics, go-to-market, manufacturing, procurement.
- Can anyone share any stories with me?
Hi Bobbie,
internally at IDS, we are using ARIS in the product development process. For example, we use ARIS to gather and document requirements for upcoming versions and we also do release planning with ARIS. For example, we use ARIS to visually plan the development budget and resources for the next quarter (rolling wave planning). We also have documented our software development process and the support processes like handling user requests or the roll-in of new requirements.
I know that some of our industrial customers are using ARIS in their product development process, e.g. to plan the development of a new car. Here, time-based modelling plays an important role, which we added with ARIS 7.1.
However, I would also be interested how people use ARIS in their product development processes. So please feel encouraged to share your stories!
Cheers,
Sebastian
Dear Bobbie,
i worked once in a team which did Reference-Processes for the Siemens AG in that Area. The Process Area was called PLM = Product Livecycle Management. It was everything, but not finite :-)
The reference Processes were very abstract Level 0 = PLM as Value Added Chain Diagramms down to Level 3 where they had nice eEPC. Then, each division could make Variants of these Reference Processes as Level 4 and so on...
