Simple and maybe dumb question, but I'm beggining to learn the scripting language by myself and couldn't find this anywhere. Is there a console log in Aris Archictech? Like, a window or somewhere where I can, say, write
console.log("hello world")
and it will actually print "hello world"?
Hello,
although I do not have a 7.2 at my disposal, I assume not much has changed there.
In the debugger you can inspect the variables and define watch expressions.
With Dialogs.MsgBox("Hello world") you can bring up a modal dialog window showing your debug information, which you have to confirm with the OK button before the script continues.
There is no STDOUT stream you can write to and you should not write to the file system of the Business Server. (This is talking about reports, which are executed on the server.) Although in ARIS 7.2 this is sometimes a solution, if you are sitting at the server machine, it probably will not work as soon as you migrate to ARIS 10 (hopefully soon).
Otherwise your script could build a text file during execution and produce it as the report result, if you want to log some lengthy operation. However this competes with your goal of producing a "proper" result file.
