I have created a Survey Management Model in Process Live.

Can I create an assignment between the Survey Model & a function in an EPC diagram?  It doesn't seem like I can, but that could be operator-error.

Assuming I can't create that assignment, from what object types can a create an assignment to a Survey Management model?

Thanks.

Hello Dan,

because of  the survey management modeling conventions and guidelines, it is not foreseen to create an assignment between the survey model and a function.

But, there is another possibility:

  • select the ‘Questionnaire template’ object in your survey model
  • assign the ‘Questionnaire template allocations’ model to the selected object
  • Open the new model
  • Select the ‘Questionnaire template’ object

Here, functions, risks, policies, tasks and so on can be connected directly to the survey model.

Cheers,

Alexandra

Hi Alexandra

Thanks for your reply.  Let me explain a bit better what I want to achieve.

I have a model describing a New Hire process a snippet of which is below:

I also have a set of Job Profiles models for RSMs, SEs, etc.  What I want  is the ability for the HR people to easily drill down from the process to find the specific job spec.  So I'd like it as an assignment at the "Identify Eligible Candidates" function in the above model.

I've built the job specs as Surveys Models ('cause it's similar to a set of questions asked in a job interview) but I don't really care whether it's a Survey or some other model.  If I can't create a Function --> Survey assignment, I'm happy to change the job specs to another model type.  What would you suggest?  A Requirements Tree, perhaps?

It's what I struggle with most re Process Live (and ARIS in general) -- what model to use when?  And what links to what?  Is there any documentation to describe the valid assignments, etc., for each symbol & model?

Cheers (  Hey that's not a particularly German thing to say either.  You must have been corrupted by the English/Aussies! :-)  )

Hi Dan,

you can find an overview of the available Process Live documentation here:

http://www.ariscommunity.com/users/marie-kuppler/2013-10-08-process-live-available-soon

The bad news is, the Process Live documentation will not meet your demands. I think, what you want is a method help. In ARIS Architect, we provide such a method help. It´s part of the ARIS Help:

Unfortunately, that ARIS method help is exclusively intended for ARIS Architect User, I think.

But to return to the current topic:

An assignment from a function in an EPC diagram to a survey management model is not possible.

But, there are three ways to fulfill your requirements:

  1. You can add the job specs in the description field of the relevant function.
  2. You can add the job specs (as a (WORD) document) to the repository and then paste that URL into the link attribute on the relevant function (for further information, please click here: http://www.ariscommunity.com/users/dcternes/2014-02-25-linking-documents
  3. You can add the job specs into a new EPC (in the model description) and create an assignment between the function and that new EPC.

I hope that my comments are helpful for you. And I wish you a pleasant weekend.

Cheers (...I´ve picked up that greeting from an Australian :O)...),

Alexandra
