Hy people,
now I am totally confused and do not know what to do:
1. I made instalation of ARIS Education package-Process design&Analysis in June 2012.
2. When I had problems with time periods for activation I was told to check version and I did. I have SR 2011_02. I do not know where to find newer version!!! What to do?
3. Now, new problem. I am using capacity resource (object general resource) as a decision maker whether truck can park or not. And after simulation I have for example at start event: 50 events, and at end event 55 events or more! How is it possible?
Does anyone knows what to do?
Regards,
Diana
I've been told that SR 2011_02 is indeed the version included in the most recent ARIS bundle for education. No word yet on if or when it will be updated.
Regarding the problem with more occurrences of an end event than a start event: It's hard to say what causes this without being able to look at the model. One thing which might cause this is a loop with an OR or AND split in the process flow. But then such a result is to be expected.
Ralf,
thanxs for reply
Some how I mange to solve this issue by defining proces instance or schedule in more details. Regarding the problem with more occurences of an end event... well it must be some kind of bug in this unversity version which shows up when making lots of combinations. When it happens I just turn off ARIS, restart VMware..and than for some period it is ok...same model, same attributes :-)
Now I have another problem, I do not know how to model overtime. I saw that option in simulation, I have read ARIS help and I tried to put for all functions that are uninterruptible, but no succees. My resource stops working according to the scheduled time and procese instance is finished next day.
If needed I can send my models only need info how to do it.
Hey Diana, Sorry for the delay. My colleague who is responsible for the creation of our university packages is on vacation right now. He will return in two weeks. So I first had to check on the exact version installed in our package. You are correct: ARIS PD&A is using "SR 2011_02". This is because we released this package just before the next ARIS update (SR 2012_03) was released. I am very sorry for any inconveniences you experienced by that. However please remember: our university bundles are offered "as is" without any support or updates. Of course we always try to help our students whenever possible (like as I try right now via the community). Still I might have a solution to your issue. If you feel comfortably to install software in your virtual machine you can update your Service Release. These steps were successful within my VM:
- Download the current release (SR 2012_03) at:
- Choose “ARIS Platform” ==> iso (957.99 MB) (be sure to take the ISO, not a "self extracting archive" or something similar)
- Hint: Choose "http"-Download, as it is the fastest
- Mount the iso to your VM's DVD drive
- In VMware Player click "Edit virtual machine settings"
- Select "CD/DVD" and choose "Use ISO image file:" on the right side of the screen
- Click "Browse" to load your just downloaded ISO-Image
- Within the VM: Stop "ARIS Business Publish Server 7.2" service
- Press "Start" ==> "Run"; Enter "services.msc" and click "OK"
- Look for the entry "ARIS Business Publisher Server 7.2", right click and choose "Stop"
- Wait for the service to stop before running the setup
- Open the setup.exe within the VMs DVD-Drive
- Follow the on screen instructions to update your ARIS software product to the current Service Release
I hope my instructions are clear enough to guide you trough the updating process. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
Cheers
Moritz
Hey Diana,
If I have this right, you mean this "Minitab": http://www.minitab.com/de-DE/default.aspx
However this software is not provided by Software AG. We (University Relations) have no experience with this software whatsoever. Still you are free to experiment with it and any plug-ins or connections. But remember: You are on your own with this ;)
I wish you great success with your approach. I would like to see any feedback from you and how everything turned out ;)
Cheers
Moritz
