I use IT Architect to create or edit filters. Our users have a combination key consisting of Business Designer + Archimate. When creating a filter to have access to certain attributes between a Task object and Function object (Project context diagram) see below, I then include the following relationships: changes, adds, removes. However when users access the filter, they only have access to the refers relationship?
How can one determine if the filter you are creating using IT Architect will be usable by users with a Business designer + Archimate key. With other words how can one test if the relationships are actually possible for the environment where you want to deploy the filter?
Filter are very useful to me and I use them a lot. I have two databases: (1) in the first database I create for every filter a group with all the diagrams and objects the filter should cover. I never reuse objects in this environment. Then I export every group in a unique .xml file; usually the name of the filer (2) the second database is usually empty and I import only the .xml file for the filter I would like to create or update. This provides a clean environment. (3) changing element of a filter is now easy. (4) the next step is to document all the changes. ARIS provides filter reports, .xml export of the filter and last but not least the model and objects. (5) the last step is to check the impact to other licenses. I login into the first database with a user account that has a) the license key to test and b) with only read access (to avoid unwanted changes). Now I can compare both environments and see if the filter is fully supported or not. All variations are documented in an Excel sheet. This helps to determine if I have to modify the filter, create a new one or even update the user with a different license key.
Hope my short excursion is helpful.
