Hi,
one week ago, we released ARIS Express 2.1.
If you want to import ADF files from the new Express version into the ARIS Business Architect, it is a good idea to update the filter for ARIS Express with the new version.
Attached to this post, you can find the new filter and template containing the ARIS Express 2.1 symbols. You need to be logged in to see the attachments.
Thus, the new "location" and "process interface" symbols are not replaced by the standard ones.
Bye,
Frank
Hi Frank,
I am enjoying the ARIS Express Symbols and I have loaded the latest Express filter and template into ARIS IT Architect (Service release 2010_05). But when I copy a model (e.g. EPC model) into MS Word the symbols are not complete. There is white space in the symbols.

Hi,
I have a question about importing ARIS express models into ARIS Business Architect 7.1 SR6. I already imported the ARIS express filter and template what I want to know is, Is it posible to change the filter of the diagram I imported to another filter? I'm using the "global method" filter on Business Architect. The thing is I want to be able to create ARIS diagrams while I'm away of the database, and after that import them to the database. I tought that ARIS Express was the solution, so I want to know if that is true or not.
Kind Regards,
Marco
Hi Marco,
the import from ARIS Express models into ARIS Architect goes only in one direction. I think you want to do both: keep your data in one repository, model offline in your own database and synchronize if you come back, right?
For that use case, Express is not the right tool, because
- you can not change the filter used in Express
- you can not export the models from ARIS Business server to Express
Modelling offline in ARIS is a bit tricky. If I were you, I'd use my local installation of ARIS Business Server and Architect, merge the models from the central repository into my local server, work offline. When coming back, I'd merge the changed models into the central repository again.
The problem here is the synchronization. The model you were working on could possibly have been changed by other. So you need to define, whether to overwrite the changes by colleagues with your changes.
For this, you can use two solutions:
- permanently lock the models you work on offline, if you already know which models you want to change. So nobody else is able to change them until you come back and release the lock
- do versioning on the database. If you come back and overwrite possible changes, you can use the model comparison which shows you what have been changed.
If you got additional questions or want to discuss that more in detail, please open a new thread for this.
Bye,
Frank
