Hello,

We've been using the RASCI connections in ARIS while modelling in EPC. We want to be able to use these relationships to define a responsibility model so each role knows what his\her responsibilities are in a particular model. For e.g. If a role supports the execution of a function, we use the connection type - Supports, if the role executes the function, we use the connection type - Is Responsible etc.

However when I use the RACI matrix view in ABP, the intersection of the role and function for a "supports" connection type shows up as "C" which stands for consulted. Supports and consulted have a completely different meaning under RASCI.

Any idea why ARIS\ABP does this? How can I configure this to show a "S" instead of a "C"?

Thanks

Ganesh

G'day Ganesh,

this is my best experience with selection of connection types for RASCI:

R: carries out (Type no. 218, CT_EXEC_2)

A: decides on (Type no. 323, CT_DECD_ON)

S: contributes to (Type no. 324, CT_CONTR_TO_2)

C: has consulting role in (Type no. 355, CT_HAS_CONSLT_ROLE_IN_1)

I: must be informed about (Type no. 326, CT_MUST_BE_INFO_ABT_2)

If you like you could rename those connections in the method to better resemble the terms used in the RASCI definition.

As to the difference between S and C: The S role is actually helping the R role in performing frequently. Actually S and R role have to work together to perform the task, while the R role is the responsible role for executing. The C role is consulted infrequently, so is just a "counsel for difficult or special cases". It does not perform actively. Also see Wikipedia on this topic.

Please test this, if it does what you want in the Publisher. In Connect this works well, although Connect does not offer the S column up to Connect 9.6. (I have not tested in 9.7). I would love to hear from you, if this would be successful.

Hi M Zshuckelt,

Thanks for your suggestion.

We've renamed the "Contributes to" connection type as "Supports" to align with a RASCI term.

No matter, which connection type I try, I'm unable to get an "S" connection in the RASCI\RACI matrix on ABP.

I've included a screenshot of the ABP screen.

Cheers

Ganesh

Hi Ganesh,

the mapping of ARIS connection types to R-A-C-I is predefined in the RACI matrix configuration file.

In ABP we do not support the 'S'.  Renaming a connection type does not change the original mapping.

It is possible to customize the basic configuration. In this case you have to change the configuration file.

Regards,

Jutta
