What is involved in importing and converting an ARIS 9.8 database backup, in to ARIS Cloud Enterprise; so that the models and objects can be used in the new database?
I hope this is as simple as importing the database (adb file) and then opening it, then copying the needed models and objects to the new/current database. But in the past it was not so easy to import from older to newer versions, is there anything else required? If so, how difficult is it?
thanks in advance,
John
Hi
You can just import a ADB file to Cloud Enterprise using an Architect for example, then you have a normal database to work. The migration requirements just say to transfer data from ARIS 98SR8 or higher to ARIS 10.
Once the database is restored you can use the merge to transfer some model or objects to new databases or also could keep work using the migrated database as well.

Thank you Andre. That makes sense and seems fairly straightforward.
From talking with some others about this, I understand a little better now, that the difficulties can come from the method changes that are imported with the old database. So if you have "issues" in the old database method filter, that you do not want in the new method, that could be a problem, because they will be imported along with the database. Right now I am not sure how to deal with that issue, since our old database does have some old things in it that we do not want to "pollute" our fresh new system.
Hi John
This kind of issues could be transfer to 10x only when method filter are imported, but the developers already prepared a solution. Just use the update systemdb command via Aris Server Administrator which is available in ARIS 10x and should run after migration. This avoid any issues from old methods and more details are available in ARIS 10 documentation if I remember the name is ARIS Connect administration pdf...
