I am have been using ARIS Architect for quite some time mainly for the purpose of Process Modelling. So far, I have really good understanding of ARIS tool and the various features it offers such as reporting, queries etc. I am really interested about process automation that ARIS Connect platform offers via APG. I read about ARIS Mini workflows which allows creation of automated workflows such as change management, release cycle management etc from the governance database. I believe this is really powerful in eradicating lot of manual work in BPM teams.
But what about the execution of Modelled Processes ? I am really confused about this. Is it possible to run the proccess somehow from ARIS? Isn't that the real Process Automation?
Hi,
ARIS Process Governance is designed to automate and support governance of your Process management, e.g. support process sign-off and publishing procedures in your organization. It is not about running your business processes in general, but your process management processes or any management of other artifacts in your ARIS database.
When you get serious with employing ARIS as an enterprise repository you define procedures to adhere to in your databases, e.g. authorization concepts, locking of published content, status and change log attributes of models and so forth. All that has to be maintained routinely and obviously those routines are processes as well. These are the processes that APG addresses, supporting you by automating the nitty gritty technical details, while you concentrate on your sign-off procedure or whatever other task. APG processes are modelled in a well-defined executable notation in a separate database.
