Hi,

I've installed the ARIS 9 client with a local server on to a test pc.  I start the server by accessing it Architect(similair to ARIS 7), then I try to access it via the ARIS Server Administrator 9.6. I am unable to connect to the LOCAL server here.  The command I'm using is "server LOCAL system manager" I'm then prompted for a password that I dont know.  I've tried the usual - SITEADMIN, CFGADMIN, DBADMIN and manager but they dont work.   Any idea on how to prgress will be appreciated.

Regards

Hi

please see the "help server" command. You are missing the port...

First, you need to make sure, that the LOCAL server is really started (I did so by starting the architect and connecting to LOCAL).

No, in the server admin, try as follows:

      server localhost:14103 default system manager

For the port (in this case, 14103, check for the file "arisclient.cfg". There is a line:

      <absport value="14103"/>

Here you got the port to use in the command.

Bye,

Frank

Thanks that worked perfectly.

Is there a way I can request a change?  It would be nice if the server command would fail instead of asking for a password?

No need to request this change. I already entered this in our bug database

It doesn't work in my case... I mean, I've checked the configuration file, I used the same command and nevertheless it doesn't work.  I 've also checked if ports are open..Is that mean installation went wrong or what?

Thanks in advance for help.

Hi Marta,

can you describe what happens exactly?

If you start the ARIS architect, ist the LOCAL server started and are you able to connect to it using the ARIS architect?

Bye,

Frank

Actually, I think there is a problem with local server itself. When I'm trying to access it with Aris Architect, then i receive a standard message to check server (default tenant, port 80 ) or login/password (I'm using system/manager). I tried to check is server is up by connecting with ARIS Server Administrator and command line:

server localhost:14103 default system manager

and it's prompting for password (manager doesn't work).

What I'm doing wrong?

You need to use <absport value = port > port value in arisclient.cfg in ../client/config directory.

it has helped for me

It looks like

server localhost:absport_value default system manager

Hello!   I have the same problem. Please, help to understand!   I read all recommendations in this subject - helps nothing. After input of the "server localhost:14080 default system manager" command at first a long pause, and then request of the password.    14080 - it is my absport in the arisclient.cfg file    All components of the server are launched successfully, I checked through ARIS CLiud Controller.

I have Installed ARIS 9.7 Client for local database usage. The "ARIS LOCAL 9.7" Service is started and running. When I start ARIS Designer & Architect 9.7, a dialog box pops up and I opened the file "arisclient.cfg" and it has the following entries:

<targetport default="80" local="16075" agentdefault="16073" agentlocal="16078"/>   <localserver>     <present value="TRUE"/>     <add value="FALSE"/>     <absinstancename value="abs_local"/>     <accport value="14001"/>     <absport value="14102"/>     <delayedstart value="octopus_local:14105,simulation_local:14108"/> </localserver>

I THEN ENTERED THE FOLLOWING ON THE POPUP DIALOG BOX.

Server: localhost:14102

Name: My connection

Tenant: default

Server Port: 80

User: system

Password: manager

I am receiving a message saying: "Unable to connect to ARIS Server: Please check the connection:e.g the port in use". PLEASE HELP I am failing to connect.

Dear Mabasa,

When you install ARIS Client with LOCAL there should be no need to add the connection the local server. In fact, LOCAL should be already as connection shown. if not, then the setup probably failed to configure that.

Cheers
