Hello!
Can anybody tell me what is the difference between a ARIS release and a ARIS patch?
Where I can get the ARIS patch? Does it titled like that?
How I proceed with a patch? What I have to consider if I want to patch?
Thank you in advance!
Sincerely,
Osipova
Hello,
an ARIS Release is published via the ARIS Download Center at intervals of ~ 3 months - if nothing severe happens like the current log4j issue. A patch is supplied individually to customers in the course of resolving support incidents they raised, if the resolution requires a fix to the software. As a rule of thumb the interim releases with odd Service Release number will contain the patches supplied on different occasions to individual customers. The even Service Release numbers represent feature releases and will most certainly also incorporate patches that have been made since the previous odd Service Release.
Remember, this is a rule of thumb. Sometimes even the odd release numbers may introduce features. Details can always be found in the Release Notes file.
If a patch is provided to you by the Software AG support it will come with detailed instructions how to install it.
In short: If you don't have a problem, you don't need a patch. If you want to avoid potential issues with an upgrade, wait for the odd service release. If you are keen on some new features, play the early adopter with the even Service Release.
Hello M. Zschuckelt,
thank you for your reply!
I note, regarding the current log4j issue, so it will be the same update procedure as usual
and it is indifferent if I take my ARIS Version or I update the ARIS Version.
I wish you a nice weekend!
Sincerely, Osipova
