hy,
i have a question about how can i model a process using all the necessary elements and when i need to present a simplified version of this model, how can i hide, in the model, some elements. For example, if i want to attached to one task the it system used to process that task, can i hide the it system when i don't need to show them ?
Thx
Hello Otilia,
if I am not mistaken, you cannot depict IT systems in BPMN process or collaboration diagrams. I assume this is what you intended, since you post under the BPMN topic. BPMN is a notation for processes only.
In ARIS you have the possibility to use function allocation diagrams, which you assign to tasks and there you can associate all sorts of resources, data, functions, IT systems, organisational units, roles etc.
If you want to switch between "pure" and "rich" process models, I recommend the EPC notation, which allows all the "satellites" in the process diagram as well as hiding them in function allocation diagrams. You can even use the feature "Hide and Show" to move them easily between the two.

Hello! thank you, very much :)
I did modeled in ARIS using the EPC notation but now we choosed to use the BPMN notation.
Right now, we need to find a way to design a process diagram who show the it system only if we want that.
I understand that isn't possible using the collaboration diagram of BPMN 2.0.
Can I put the IT system in other lane and hide it when I need ?
Have a nice day!
Hello I suggest you represent the IT systems in the Collaboration Diagram either as Lane(s) or as Task's attributes, and export (Word, Excel, PDF,...) the desired information (i.e. IT systems only) using an evaluation report. When we don't want to overload the BPMN diagrams with too many lanes and sequence flows, we represent the IT systems in task's custom attributes, with a differentiation between User Interface IT Systems (for User Task) and Service IT Systems (for Service or Script tasks). And no IT Systems for Manual Tasks. That solution requires a bit of coding for the evaluation report...
