I can create a new document, I can save it (although not with any å,ä or ö in the file name). But when I try to open an existing file, either one my own or one of the file examples coming with the installation it says "This is not a valid ADB file (database archive)".
I'm running Win 7 Ultimate Swedish and Java 1.6.0_18.
I uninstall the AE 2.0 and deleted all temporary files, downloaded the jnlp file and installed. I click on the file in explorer the app starts the UI show and finally the popup says "This is not a valid ADB file (database archive)". How do I do a total cleanup of AE2.0? Is it necessary to uninstall Java?
I think I've found the problem. I'm running a virtual Win 7 on Parallel 5 with the Macfuse file system. I created the file in Win 7 and then opened it on the Mac without any problem, but I receive the faulty popup trying to open it in Win 7. I tried to upload the file but received another faulty message "Invalid file type".
But you should be able to get the file here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/586157/Chess.ad
I've tried to install AE 2.0 on a VMware Fusion 3.0.1. The app didin't start in that instance.

Hi,
hmm... I am able to open the file.
Try the following: in the system, where the error occures: close Express, open the Explorer, go to "c:\documents and settings\<your user>\ARISExpress" and delete the folder "server". Try to open the file again.
Did that work?
Bye,
Frank
Well, since there is some convergency of the file-folder structure of Mac OS and Win in Parallels and in Vmware the ARISExpress file is suited as part of the Mac OS path Harddrive/User/<username>/ARISExpress. When I deleted the server folder and started the AE2.0 the app started but files could not be read and the server folder is re-created.

Hi Stefan,
VMware is a bit of a problem. If you double click an ADF, Express is started. Every start of Express, the web start mechanism checks for an update. Depending on your settings, this checks can take much time until the system gets a time out.
The deletion of the folder was to check whether the update works. The folder is re-created, so it does.
Bye,
Frank
Hi Stefan,
a desktop virtualisation component such as Parallels is meant to host different operating systems. If this virtualisation component leads to corrupted files, it is in my humble opinion more a problem of the virtualisation component than the application executed.
Hi Sebastian,
I don't know either how the Parallels convergency works.
But this situation is that I can create a file but that file I can't open in the Win system but I can open it in the Mac system or if I isolate the system from each other. I don't have this problem with any other apps like Office 2003 - 2010 (beta), Visio, Bizagi, Adobe CS4, MindManager or other apps where I create graphical objects.
There is a incompatibility between AE and Parallels but the solution might be written in the stars?

I don't understand how to attach a file (is it from the globe_chain_icon?), so the file is here:
