Hi,

is it possible to give a user the authorization to upload databases or create DBs in ARIS, without making the user 'System User' in all existing DBs? Normally I would assign the function privilege 'Database Administrator', but then the user automatically has a 'System User' in all DBs on the Server, which we do not want.

Kind regards

Michael

Hi

what about a report?

Maybe the report could create the database with a system-user account. A user having only designer access could use the report but would not be able to open the report code in order to get the system-user credentials...

Frank

Hi Frank,

Thanks for the quick reply and yes a report would be a good idea, but I was wondering if this is intentionally, and if yes, why? I would like to have people in my company who can create there own databases, without automatically have access to all the other DBs. Another thing I do not get, is, that as soon as a user has User Management privileges, he can get himself all privileges he wants, but maybe I only want him to have User Management privileges... (Did I make a mistake during setup?)

Kind regards

Michael

Hi Michael,

about the system user:

System-users are administrators. This type of users is able to maintain the ARIS environment, and as a consequence, maintain databases. If another user is able wants to work in a database without database management privileges, a system user needs to create a database.

ARIS does not know such a thing like "own database". This could be a requirement for the future I think, but currently, this is a contradiction to the currect conzept.

The wish to make it possible to create "own" databases is not really requested yet, I think... in order to do so, you can help yourself with a report.

2.) user management

Yes, you are right. A person having user management is able to give all rights to others, also to himself. This is also agreed behavior. Consider the user management administrator as some "master administrator", assigning privileges to others, licenses as well. You need an administrator to start... this is the user management administrator.

Those users are normally database administrators as well.

Bye,

Frank
