Hallo all,
how do I configure the layout for the modeling area Architects / designers see?
Apart from the background color, which can be done via a template, I have no idea how to e.g. have a model's audit trail attribute to be displayed by default in a header area of each open model, or the model header which is available from the patterns (no idea whether pattern is the ARIS GUI translation for German "Muster").
Any ideas are welcome,
Stefan
Jackie and Bob,
obviously, I had not been sufficiently clear. Sorry for that.
Actually, our header already contains the audit trail. What I am looking for is a way to have this header within a model as soon as a user selects / starts a "new model".
@Bob: Does this
"This gets copied each time when a new model is created."
refer to a human making the copy? Otherwise, how did you manage to have this included automatically?
Sunny Easter Holidays!
Stefan
Hey Stefan,
What I've done in the past is to create a sort of 'modeling template' for EPC diagrams (as well as others). It's just a blank model with the 'model header' on it containing the required model attributes. Users would begin the creation of a new EPC model by first making a 'definition' copy of this 'modeling template' in the desired target group. So long as you give the users "Read' access only to the group in which the 'modeling template' resides, they're not able to 'delete' it or to 'write' over it.
Certainly not automated but the strategy does allow for different templates for different model types, if required. Of course, if you know a way to automate it, I'll send you $10 for this answer :-)
Best Regards,
Bob
Hi Stefan,
Robert's proposal sounds good to me: if you want to automate this, it should be fairly easy to write a macro doing the job. The macro could react on the event "Model created" or "Model opened" and just do what Robert proposed.
Alternatively you could use fragments (see www.ariscommunity.com/users/frank-weyand/2010-03-31-features-en-detail-fragments-aris-business-architect), but then each user creating a new model has to take care that he inserts the header. In addition since fragments are stored user specific, you have to find a way to share the fragment (see for example this post: www.ariscommunity.com/users/alegra/2010-03-09-how-can-i-share-new-fragments).

Qihao,
This was created for T-Mobile by the consultants we had engaged. They used the standard drawing features to create the outer box, imported an image, and then used attribute calls to have the model information generated inside the header.
Since ARIS 7.1 SR5, there is a fragment, Model header, that you can use and adapt with your specific information.
Once the Fragment was available, I had all my modelers save the five levels of process map headers into their Fragment panel by putting them all in one ARIS EPC model for easy selection and saving as a Fragment.
Let me know if you need more information on creating the header.
