Dear All,
It is recommended to carry out the process of DB reorganisation often so as to have a neat database.
Well I tried this lately and had the following error message:
So what I did was to back up the same DB and restore it locally using ARIS Business Architect. Then I ran the reorganisation process.
Oddly enough the process was successful
Has anybody encountered the same issue?
Grateful if you could please give me some advises and comments.
Thanks beforehand
Cheers
Shameem
Hello Shameem,
I assume the first try of reorganization was on an ARIS server in your network? In this case a server problem occured, but I cannot make a diagnosis here. You should send the log files from the server installation, where it not worked, to our support, they should be able find the reason.
Best regards
Uwe
Hello Shameem,
reorganizing is not only useful to have a "neat" DB.
Only after reorganizing (with deletion of object occurences) you can be sure of reports yielding correct results. Our concern has been for example out-dated occurences of object connections.
I reorganize and backup DBs as a daily maintenance task on the server by means of
- a scheduled windows task
- running a batch script
- calling ArisAdm71.exe (provided in %ARISHOME71%\Javaclient\)
As the task is executed on the application server there is no trouble with network errors - or only if you use a remote DB server connected to the ARIS Business application server.
One thing to check in the batch is whether the ARIS service is running.
Hope this helps
Cheers, Martin
Hi Martin,
First of all my apologies for thanking you a bit late for your feedback :).
That's indeed a very good idea of scheduling the DB reorganisation on a daily basis.
As I am still new to ARIS, everyday I learn new and interesting features about this wondeful and powerful platform:)
Thanks a lot.
Cheers
Shameem
Hello Mona,
I am using arisadm71.exe in batch mode as described here, writing to a log file.
For the commands and detailed syntax of arisadm7*.exe cf. the Aris Installation and Administration guide (Start Menu>ARIS>docs or PDF in your installation directory)
Regards, Martin
