I am currently exploring ARIS express, my questions is can we limit the shapes for BPMN. I want all the users within my company to use the standard template - so is it possible to customize BPMN model (with selected symbols) lock it and standardize it within my company?

in ARIS Express it is not possible at all to customize the filter of any model. That means, it is not possible to change or narrow the set of symbols.
In the ARIS standard products, this is possible, unfortunately currently not for BPMN. 2 The possibility to do this in BPMN 2 will come with the next Service Release.
