Hi,
I am repeatedly unable to install ARIS express. I have ARIS SOA Architect installed, which works just fine, but not ARIS Express.
My java version: build 1.6.0_16-b01. I tried cleaning java cache and reinstalling numerous times.
The problem: I get an error message creating the desktop shortcut. After this, the setup jfinishes normally. See 3 screenshots in attachments.
I hope you can help me solve this issue.
Kind Regards,
Jeffrey Gortmaker
Hi Jeffrey,
I actually do not know the reason, what forbids Express to install the start menu items and the desktop icon (which "integration into the desktop" actually means), and why, but you can try just to leave it out. (maybe you have a protection software or virus scanner forbidding that menu creation?)
Express will be downloaded, but the start menu items won't be available. You can create the link also later on. After doing the install without the desktop integration, you can proceed like this:
1.) in the sytem panel, open "Java" -> the java panel appears
2.) on the first page, lower section (temporary internet files), click "Show"
3.) in the appearing list, Express should be shown.
4.) context menu on "Express" should offer you a menu entry like "create link"
Afterwards, the desktop icon and start menu entry should be visible.
Does that work?
Bye,
Frank
Hi Frank,
thanks for the worksaround for starting ARIS Express from the Java Panel, this works (should I select "offline" or "online")?
I switched off what I believe is my company's virus scanner (Microsoft forefront client security), but still it won't create the shortcut onto my desktop...
Do you have another workaround for creating a shortcut This procedure is not so end-user friendly. :-(
