I probably am bad pupil... I haven't been able to correctly install Aris Express!
1 Executing the install program (aris-express-setup.exe) has been OK. But when starting the installed program, I probably missed something for the registration, as it asked me to give my identification, wich I did not have, of course. This is progably the source of the problem.
2 later on, I haved registered and received the confirmation mail, which reconnected me to the Aris website, where I completed my profile.
3 But from that point, which should have allowed me to start the program, clicking on the desktop icon gives nothing at all.
4 Going back to the web site, I found the way (classical) to ininstall the program, which I did. Than reinstalling the program (aris-express-setup.exe), which had a very short run.
5 But now; what? The desktop icon has desappeared (deleted by the unstallation process) but not reappeared on the reinstallation process. Furthermore, the Aris program is no more listed on the add/delete list of windows installed programs.
So, "deadlock". Can somebody help me to get out of this?
Thank you.

Hi,
proceed as follows:
- open the system panel
- choose Java
- on the upcoming dialog, first page, section temporary internet files, click "settings"
- Make sure that the option "keep temporary internet files on computer" is switched on
- choose "Delete files..." and confirm both options
- close the Java panel
- Click this link to use the alternative download link
Did that help?
Bye,
Frank
Hi Frank
Thank you very much for your help (I am fluent in ASP and Windows world, as a developper but I know very few about Java environment).
I did what you explained, but I don't know if it worked, as the desktop icon is still not there (and as far as I previously understood, it starts something which loads Java).
So, I need a little more help.
And again, thank you for future as well as past help.
Bye
Jean-Marc
Hi Jean-Marc,
During the download/installation, the user is getting asked whether he wants to "integrate the application into your desktop". You probably did not confirm. This does not mean anything else than creating start menu entries and desktop icon.
You can do the following:
- open the java panel again.
- open the list of installed java applications
- you should find Express 2.2 here
- context menu on Express 2.2 should offer you something like "create/install shortcut"
BTW: you can also start Express here. Have a look to the screenshot below (pardon, it is in German)
Bye,
Frank
Hi Frank
I very much appreciate your help. The point has been that when opening the Java panel, the "Anzeignen" (in french "Afficher") was not accessible (in gray), which I understood that the installer had not made his work properly. But I managed, browsing all the tabs, to open the "Erweltert" tab ("Avancé" in french) and check the choice for the icon on the desktop.
Than, reinstalling the program... it worked completely, as I already the user name and password!!!
So, everything is now fixed (with the icon), and working.
Thanks for your help
