I am a Senior Business Analyst by profession.  On my return from maternity leave, I was assigned the ARIS Champion role for the Programme/project due to many interim programme changes.

Below is a list of responsibilities of an ARIS Champion in my organisation: (What are your opinions?  How can I make this role more stimulating please?)

 



ARIS Champion Roles & Responsibilities:

 

Ø

Modeller skill and competence in ARIS

ØBuilds and maintains modeller skills, knowledge and ability for the assigned business area ØActively transfers knowledge and skills to modellers in the project / business area ØProvides direction and supports ARIS users in project / business area ØCoordinates ARIS training and escalates training ‘no shows’ ØActively ensures that own SBSA modeling standards and ARIS toolset competency is maintained ØAssists in identifying and up-skilling of an ARIS Champion successor

Adherence to standards and governance:

ØCommunicates new or updated information on ARIS methods and standards within respective project / business area ØEnsures a standard approach across the project / business area, and adherence to SBSA modeling standards ØEnsures that all models and relevant attributes are correctly modeled in ARIS ØExecutes First Round Quality Assurance on the processes modelled by the modellers ØProvides QA feedback to modellers and ensure that models are standards compliant ØSubmit QA requests to the process Controller in a timely manner ØGoverns the movement of objects and models to the relevant folders within the group folder structure (i.e. WIP folder, QA and relevant signoff folder) ØFacilitate the movement of models to and from the Enterprise Library

 

ARIS Utilisation:

ØFacilitate the use of existing models when new projects start (re-use) ØFacilitate successful generation and signoff of the FSS document ØKeeps track all Functional System Specifications, Blueprints and Technical System Specifications that are not modelled and ensure that all decisions related to it is logged and communicated ØAssists in stakeholder management and monitoring ARIS expectations ØConsolidate queries, requests or issues and communicate it through to the ARIS Team ØSubmit required information for management reports

 

TOM (Target Operating Model - on a L4) Strategy Alignment:

ØFacilitates discussions between projects or business areas and business architecture ØChecks that the project obtained initial Business content signoff and Business Architecture alignment signoff on all L4 and L5 process models
