Hi,
I regularly need to create links to process models from within the intranet pages. One way, of course, appears to be to copy the GUID information from the address bar and then to insert the GUID number into a standard link. Isn't there a more convenient way of creating these links?
I tried doing a right-click > copy location, but the resulting link only works for one session. I typically have to create links on a rather regular basis, so this is taking a lot of my time.
Any ideas how i can simplify link creation?
Thanks in Advance!
With Regards,
Rakesh.
Hi,
In this Version, the link works until an update of the database is done. In the next release of 7.1 the new link will be valid after a new update.
Unfortunately for the moment there is not much you can do. The problem in the generated link is the profileid, that is changed after a database update. If you replace this id by the new one, the link is valid again.

Rakesh,
We managed to make persistent links work in our implementation, but I can assure you that it was not a trivial task. As mentioned, the links expire everytime the BP database is refreshed.
I suspect upgrading to 7.1 would be easier than implementing persistent links in 7.02; but if you want to pursue this, drop me an email and I will see what I can do to provide background info on our implementation.
The solution required specific patches and extensive custom scripting in the BP environment, provided by an IDS consultant who developed a creative, but perhaps not supported, solution.
Cheers,
Chris
Hi,
Thanks so much for your inputs!
Here's what I have done:
I have created an Excel file that breaks the link URL into three pieces: the initial text of the link, the model GUID, and the final piece. As the model GUID is replaced, the complete URL is concatenated, and the final text is automatically converted into a link.
I guess I will now need to add an extra two columns for URL text preceding the profile ID and the Profile ID itself. Maybe this will ensure that even when the profile ID changes, we will only need to update it in one place. And given that the profile ID shall not change across models, that should be easy to implement. You think this will work?

Hi,
Sven's solution in next version is now available with SR3_2009. This means that the generated link in Business Publisher (using right mouse click - copy link in model or object area) will now produce a external link which is stable against export updates and also new generated export when you are able to ensure, that same export name was used.
Kind regards
Stefan
