Well the first post on this subject, catches the eye of many community users.
So I decided to make this script a community effort. Script files have already been developed and I am doing initial testing on various versions of ARIS BA.
What required now, is your participation to build an extensive library of re-usable objects. I tried to convey the idea in the first post with simple words and graphical illustration. I hope you all have an idea of what we are going to achieve. Moving on, if you are interested to be part of this community effort (library scripts will only be released to volunteers) and offers volunteer effort then leave your comments to provide feedback...(see end of this post for the email request format). Three groups of participants will be formed:
- Alpha Group will be responsible to provide an extensive list of re-usable object class, as mentioned in the first post, like Country, Operating Systems, Processes, Business Service. These are the classes of our re-usable resource. They can get some idea from list below:
- Beta Group will be responsible to provide mapping of above class type to ARIS. For instance, they need to provide Object Type, Default Symbol Type and Default Inventory Model Type(inventory model type will be used to place imported objects on it so that they do not get cleaned up with database reorganization (this script will delete orphan objects, connections). Inventory model type will be any model type that allows the object and symbol to be placed on it. For instance, ERP Applicaiton will be modeled as Application System Type and default symbol might be IT Systems. IT Systems symbols are allowed in Access Diagram so it will be used as an inventory model type. I hope you got the idea. The group and start with this:
- Gamma Group will be responsible to provide content of object library i.e. objects belonging to class type for instance, if you are asked to provide objects for Operating Systems then it could be windows xp, linux, ubuntu, unix etc.
Gamma Groups will be asked to provide objects for two or three class type and it will be distributed uniformly to all the participants. Further instrucation and format in excel file will be send to voluenteers who wish to participate in this community activity through email. Again I repeat, at the end of this joint exercise, those who participate will receive scripts along with consolidated object library.
