What ist the difference between ARIS MashZone and SAP BO. Is it possible to do some Data Mining with ARIS Mashzone?
Regards
Sebastian
Hi Sebastian,
with ARIS MashZone (AMZ) you can report different datasources without saving the data in the special Mashzone-DB. It is a frontendtool for creating management dashboards very quickly.
DWH tools like SAP BW or BO are developed for a company-wide reporting platform with functionalities like data mining or forcasting and planing. The dashboard product like AMZ use this data in an aggregated level to report it in management required dashboards.
best regards,
Harry
As Harry indicated ARIS MashZone does not store data like ware houses. MashZone is intended to do quick dash-boarding based on previously aggregated data.
Every time a mash up is viewed the corresponding data feeds are processed and therefore their sources read--all calculations happen on the fly and the data remains where it originated.
If you need storage capabilities you may look at MashZone's companion products like ARIS Performance Manager which implements a process warehouse. There is an article written by Andreas which explains how IDS Scheer itself makes use of PPM.
Another companion product is Software AG's webMethods Optimize which enables you to do Business Activity Monitoring (BAM). Please expect further integration of MashZone with both products.
To provide even more information you may refer to a book that has been recently published: Its called Process Intelligence for Dummies.
