Dear Community:)
We currrently need to publish some 1400 models (EPC & VACD) using ARIS HTML Publish (not ABP).
Quite bulky I know:) and believe me extremely stressful for me:(
I would like to know the best approach to tackle this publishing.
I've tried to publish all the models at one go but this was not a very intelligent idea.
All I got was a lost connection with server error message and best part is that the message was displayed after some 25hrs non stop publishing. (I'm not telling you about the CPU usuage which was stuck on 100%).
I then needed to reboot the ARIS Business Server.
So I started to publish the models in batches and then update the export to add the next batch.
However this is extremely time consuming.
For example it took me about 8hrs to publish some 15 models and still I frequently have 'Lost connection with server' error message again and then need to start all over again:(:(.
The DB is composed of VACD, EPC and PDF files attached to some EPC too.
We are currently using ARIS 7.1, SR 490292 (2010_07).
Grateful for your advices and comments.
Thank you beforehand .
Cheers
Shameem
Hi!
Yes, to work with ARIS Web publisher is one pleasure, and don’t work – is another :)
There are some ways to reduce the time (and size) of your portal. First, you should switch off all options in Web publisher’s Manage Layout. For this useView→Options→Web Publisher→ Manage Layout. It will reduce size of your publication.
Second, you should use minimum of magnification levels. Each level increases the size of publication substantially.
And you could reject a generation of object information. It will reduce size (and time) of your publication too.
Hello Shameem,
if you are using Aris Toolset + Webpublisher I suggest you copy your database to the LOCAL Server on your workstation in order to create your big initial export on the workstations hard disk. This would save you a lot of network traffic (Toolset produces much more load client-side than Bus Architect) and leave the full performance of your Bus Server for the regular users.
Best regards, Martin
