Hello everyone,

Could someone explain me why Mashzone automatically resize the font of data points and/or axis elements according to data being shown? In some cases I see this as a good feature, however in many cases it decreases  font to almost non readable size. I attached two screen shots. Both shows the same pie chart where the font size of data points is set to "Verdana 10" but the font size is different. Can I turn this "feature" off so font size will be always as defined?

Thanks,

Jan

that's a very good question, I also would like to know how to solve this "problem".

Hi,

you cannot solve this as there is not enough room to display all your text in larger fonts. However, there are other configuration options available.

You may, for instance, position the labels outside the chat or utilize a legend next to the chart.

Stephan

Hi Stephan and thanks for your response.

I could understand that the font size is somehow automatically adjusted according to lenght of strings being displayed and to space available within chart area. However, in many cases (e.g. the one represented by attached screen shots in my origin post) the font size is adjusted in not "ideal" way.

On picture FontAutoResizing2.PNG there are many more segments than on FontAutoResizing1.PNG and font size looks "better", although some labels overlap over more than one segment and over pie chart border (e.g. CD ROM Drive, SW Operating System, ..).

BTW, the options you suggeted are ok, but sometimes they may lead to this:

Now I can only see two options remaining:

  1. Dramatically increase the chart's size
  2. Add a filter to remove values contributing less than, e.g. 5% or filter by HW/SW first

Did you know that there is operator to filter inside the data feed already? You could even utilize the replace operator to pack all values below a certain threshold together. That way you removed some (irrelevant) values from your legend by summarizing them as others.
